Headquarter Offices and Art Collections Center

The museum headquarters introduces a model for future work based on interacting with things. The program is organized around objects that can be seen and appreciated in person. Located at the heart of the building are spaces where everyone experiences art. The areas where curators, conservators, archivists, and preparators work with objects of art are interwoven with spaces for administrators and general staff so that the entire workflow orbits around the labor of displaying, conserving, and sharing pieces from the museum’s world renown collections of modern and contemporary art.
Conceived in collaboration with the thermal engineering firm Transsolar, the spaces receive generous levels of daylight and are set to comfortable temperatures while reducing energy demand in this extremely energy-intensive and climate-sensitive type of building.
